oil cooler question
« on: May 15, 2009, 05:02:21 PM »

I am going to take pics of my 09 SE Fat Bob this weekend and post them. I've been busy spendin money. But any way I am looking into an oil cooler and just noticed there are two threaded orfices on my oil filter housing. can I tap into those for my cooler lines or do I need an adaptor?

NO!!!   Those are for internal machine work on your case when being machined for oil passages, not for anything else.  Doc

I can't remember the name off the top of my head, but there is a company that makes a cooler/spoiler combination.  Try a web search, might save you some fabrication time.

You might want to consider twin ten row Jagg coolers, they cool better than the HD and have 3 & 1/2 less pressure drop.

Shalom,
I just ordered a buds oils cooler that hides under the bike. I intend to run it in conjunction with the stock one. (FLTRSE3) Any advice?

Baggers just completed a two-part installation of the Buds cooler.

I saw the first part, have not been by a mag stand to pick up the second...

Having hit the dog bone on my SERK on a speed bump, I can only imagine what would happen if you hit that Buds cooler with something in the road?

Idea is neat - not sure the application is very sound for a normal use bike.

I would LOVE to get that nasty cooler off the front of my bike...

Just a comment, in my opinion the very bottom of the bike touching an 270 degree oil pan inches from 130 degree asphalp is  not a good or safe place for an oil cooler,  however good luck.  :nervous:
