Highway pegs-extensions on 2007 SUEC for taller rider
« on: March 29, 2009, 02:06:59 PM »

I am looking for some ideas for different high way peg brackets for a taller rider on the stock footpegs for the 2007 SEUC. I need to get them extended out forward to be useful. I have found some like the Kuryakyn, but they do not have them in the tall sizes with the female mount to match up with the male mount pegs.  What are you guys doing and what are some options if you know any?  Photos would be great of any you have done.  Thanks.

What are you using now?

I needed more adjustment also in order to stretch my legs out. I tried the Tour Tech Cruise Pegs from Kuryakyn but they are not that adjustable and just did not fit my legs. I had a set of Dually Highway Pegs that I took off my Venture when I traded for the Ultra, they are fully adjustable and you can turn them any way you want for a good fit. Of course the quick mounts on them were for a 1" bar and Harley has a 1 1/4" so I ended up buying the 1 1/4" quick mounts for $50.00 and installed the pegs on the Ultra. This type of peg will allow you to rotate them towards or away from the rider giving you about 8 inches of adjustment. I'm happy now that I can stretch out like I could on my Venture. Look at the Longhorn Offset Dually Highway Pegs from Kuryakyn they are the same as far as the pegs go, I have the original floorboards which are about 6 years old and they look like it.

Have you looked at these?

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448764517&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302290695&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302290695&bmUID=1239038321714&bmLocale=en_US

I'm a few under 6' and could not quite reach (comfortably) the stock billet highway peg mounts on the 09 SEUC.  I have the short angled version of this mount, angled closer to the rider.  You can angle it away from rider for taller people.

Good luck, UpChuck!

The old mounts give me about 2-3 more inches. I'm 6-4 and they are perfect. The billet style was way too close.

I finally went with the same (short) extension as seen above.  In my case,  I wanted the stirrup too.  Karyakn or however they spell their silly name......makes a stirrup mount that allows you to have the stirrup and retain whatever H.D. peg you had to start.

Interested in anything like this? These were from my old RG and they were nice. Will be selling them.

You can coat that "rusty" area (clean it up first) and other spots like it......with clear finger nail polish and that should stop it. :pepper:

Born and raised in Omaha myself.   :2vrolijk_21:  Still in the area but live in the outskirts now.  Great place to raise a family!  Went to the Black Hills area for the first time last summer (prior to Sturgis).  Beautiful area and lots of nice rides.  Favorite ride was Spearfish Canyon...pretty much twisties and turns through the canyon...nice turnout spot at Bridal Veil Falls.  Rode it both up and down.   The day we went to ride Needles Highway they were laying fresh asphalt.  When we arrived, they were in the just laid fresh oil stage and were recommending motorcycles turn around.  Didn't have to tell us twice!  Bummer!

Would recommend venturing to Devils Tower also...Waaayyyy cool!

Ride safe...Eagle Soars
