HOUSTON - The next time you see someone suspiciously selling or carrying lots of flags, contact police. That's the warning published on the South East Texas Patriot Guard Riders website after someone allegedly stole all their flags off a member's front porch.
A driver of one of the groups support trucks had placed the flags on his front porch while he cleaned his truck, according to the website. When he returned to the porch, all the flags had disappeared.
All the flags were rolled up and mounted on two 5-foot sections of white PVC with coupling to connect the sections, according to the website. The poles had a gold-painted cap and a clear coating over rubber to protect the paint.
The organization's website states several people have already offered to help replace the flags, but they're urging anyone who may come across the stolen flags to contact the Hempstead Police Department at 979-826-3332 or e-mail the organization: Leadership (AT) SETexasPGR.org
