TN SNAKE
« on: May 31, 2009, 08:41:37 AM »

CHECK IT OUT, Hwy 421, 482 turns, runs from Bristol, TN to Mountain City, TN. This has the Dragon beat hands down. Even the store in Shady Valley where everyone stops has the food beat at Deals Gap.  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

I rode 421 from Boone, NC to Bristol a few weeks ago.  Nice ride.  Stopped at the store in Shady Valley, but didn't eat there.  It's the only store that I've been to in a long time that let me pump gas and then pay for it (no credit card at the pump).  The store owner said he's looking to sell it and move back to FL.  Looks like it could use some renovations/improvements to me.  Pretty laid back looking town.

Here is a view of the store...

And this is the view looking across the road.  Looks like they have a Cranberry Festival there sometime...

I will ride this and the dragon next summer.

If you ever get a chance ride AZ 191 (Coronado trail) from Alpine to Morenci.  Several of our members have ridden the Dragon and 191 and clearly like 191 much better.

Will try this one soon.

 ??? ??? ???

How many miles is 421 on the ride?

AZ 191 is about 125 miles.  Great road.  Criss Crosses the moutain range at 9600 feet and then you start down over a mile.  Wonderfull very little traffic.

Awesome road.

Bristol, TN to Mountain City, TN is about 30 or 35 miles, Then on over into Boone NC is about another 20 or so, Once in Boone you can pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway
and the roads are endless.
