2 questions - is there a rubber o-ring that goes on the back side?  can you change this cover without loosing any oil?

Yes and yes.

Just in case, change while the bike is straight up rather than on the jiffy (kick) stand.

This is the Derby Cover I settled on. There is chrome under that paint and it has a nice etched surface. I had a bit of trouble finding something that would work with the Rumble Collection Passanger Floor Boards. They impact the look of the Derby cover by their close proximity.

Iglide - Do you have a PN for the cover you selected?

 1) Most likely you will not receive a o ring with the cover. However if your careful you can reuse your old one.
 2) Stand your bike up level and you will not lose any oil.  Good luck.  :2vrolijk_21:

Do you think the brilliant HD marketing division knew we'd do this.  Below is Part #60827-07 (blue script).  Painter advised to just paint over with brush and touch up paint, let dry a day then clean off extra with a cleaner wax.  I think it worked pretty well.
