Battistini True Dual Head Pipes
« on: June 12, 2009, 11:23:10 PM »

JD (O/BSERG) or HD Dud,  Tell us about the Battistini True Dual Head Pipes  The only thing I can find is a partsmag dot com article from March about them.  Can't find anything on the Battistini web site.   Are they jet hot coated?  Anything?  Right side temp drop?  HP/TQ improvement?  Seat of pants or?

The stock head pipe makes more power than any aftermarket. True dual is a waste of money and wil cost you power. Get a stock non cat pipe and have it ceramic coated.  :drink:

Like I was telling Jim today (HD-Dude), I can't really tell if there's been a difference with the heat since we haven't had any really hot weather here lately. I'll report back about that when I get a chance. As for the seat-of-pants feel, this is what I told Jim: "Honestly, I can't tell if it's faster but it sure sounds faster".

The pipes are standard finished in chrome and the stock heat shields still work with them. It is a direct replacement for the stock headpipes except that they are true duals. I got this set from the manufacturer (must stay un-named) who does the pipes for Battistini and some of the Screaming Eagle line for a steal so I decided to try them out. Not too bad in my opinion...

I replaced the cat with a RK cat free header that I had ceramic coated ($135 @ T&T Ceramic, Bradenton, Fl), put Fulsac 1.75 Baffles with 2 yards of fiberglas in addition to the HD insulation and a TTS w/fullsac supplied map. Combination of it all has resulted in major reduction in exhaust/engine temp. Road last nite in traffic and the temp control deal never kicked in, before it would activate at every stop light, and it runs much stronger,  I like.

Thanks JD for the info (and correcting the typo on HD-DUDE (Sorry, Jim, my bad)).  Heat issue is a big interest for me.  Here in Eastern Cali, it's been hot enough for me to know that I'm looking for some relief from the front header.

Highwaystar, what year ('09?) and model (RK?) head pipes should I/we look for?

Thank you.
