Vegas/Utah/Grand Canyon/Vegas
« on: June 12, 2009, 06:22:51 AM »

Rented bikes in Henderson, just outside of Vegas. Great dealer and great bikes to ride! Went to the following National Parks

Zion National Park

Bryce Canyon National Park

Kodachrome State Park

Capitol Reef National Park

Arches National Park

Canyonlands National Park

Valley of the Gods

Monument Vallley

Grand Canyon

Las Vegas

Pictures are here:

Route taken from Las Vegas:

I-15 to Utah, then Route 9 to Zion NP and spent the night at the lodge there.

Took Route 9 to Route 89 and then Route 12 into Bryce Canyon and spent the night at the lodge there, as well.

Continued on Route 12 along Grandstaircase-Escalante until we hit Route 24. Took Route 24 thru Capitol Reef NP and spent the night at the lovely Whispering Sands motel in Hanksville.

Next day, took Route 24 north to I-70 East, had breakfast in Green River, then continued east to Route 128 south near Cisco. Took Route 128 south all the way along the Colorado River into Moab. Stayed at the Ramada and visited the Arches NP that afternoon.

Next day, Went to Canyonlands NP (Island in the Sky section), back to Moab for lunch, then headed south on 191 toward Blanding, cut back west on 95 thru Valley of the Gods, and then south on 261 to Mexican Hat. Spent the night at the San Juan Inn.

Next Day, took Route 163 into Arizona and thru Monument Valley, and had breakfast in Kayenta at the Blue Coffee Pot Cafe. Continued on 160 toward TUuba City, picked up 89 south and then hit 64 west into the Grand Canyon. Stayed at Maswick Lodge, but I would definitely stay at Bright Angel if you can get a reservation.

Last day, took 64 out of the park all the way to Williams. Had breakfast at the Route 66 Diner, then took I-40 to Kingman. From there, took 93 N/W across Hoover Dam and then thru Boulder City, Henderson, and back to Las Vegas.

That had to be a great ride.  I see by the views, etc. that you get into the photography, also.

And your user name........you have a 54' Sea Ray?  I'd like to see photos of that, too.  Several boaters on here.

Those links are of the webpage where the image is stored, not the link to the picture. What you need to do is right click on the picture on that page, click on properties, when window pops up copy/paste the URL of the image and put that in the image tag and you'll get these..

Good Phot!o's there Sea Ray!
We covered the same area about this same time last year.
Except we started and finished in Denver, went through Cheyenne, Salt Lake City, then all of the National Parks in Utah, our favorite being Zion.
Spent our nites in the Parks..............very Peacefull!
I also am a Sea Ray Owner, we keep at Kentucky Lake/Barkley Lake in KY.
Our's is much smaller, being a 260 Bowrider, but enjoy it very much.
