...but, If you ride it enough you won't need a tender.
Well, that's not entirely true, LarryB...
I ride 1000+ miles/month. I've never needed a battery tender to fix a battery that was undercharged from sitting too long.
However, just last week, I turned the ignition to "ON" so I could see the neutral indicator on the dash and backed my bike ouit to do a couple of quick things. I walked away for a couple of hours leaving the ignition in the "ON" position. When I came back, I had a few indicators on the dash, but the HID headlights were out and the starter wouldn't even turn over.
That's was the moment when I wished my dealer had hooked up a Battery Tender quick-connect as part of the PDI. My wife's new Street Glide -- bought at a different dealer -- came with one installed.
Off came the seat, ECM and bracket so I could get to the lousy battery terminals to hook up the tender.
I went to a local parts shop the next day, found an end cable from a battery tender the piece with the clams and the inline connector to the tender. I bought a couple of other things and the owner had his mechanic replace the clamps with ring terminals and gave me the resulting piece -- FOR FREE!!
Now, I just gotta install it.
