CUSE4 Wont start after handlebars replaced
« on: May 17, 2009, 06:17:19 PM »

After I put on new Klockwerk Ergo back bars my CUSE4 will not start!   I did not disconect the battery or pull the fuse.  (probably a mistake!)    Everything works but wont start.  Checked the fuses.   Does it have something to do with the security.   Searching for suggestions.  Thanks, Chris

How about the kill switch wiring? Do you hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds after you turn the key on? Just a thought.

Is it in neutral?  Try all the basic stuff, you may surprise yourself!

I put an ohm meter on the on/off switch , and the start switch. Wires are good to the deutch connector. Not sure what needs done with the security. The alarm only goes on when the bob is out of range. Alarm does not go on when bob is close. I pulled the maxi fuse hoping it would reset. No luck. Maybe try disconecting battery to see if it resets????
Its been a long day in the garage. I really like the way the bars look and feel.
I just sent my camera back to Olympus for repair. (sorry no pictures)
Was able to use stock cables. This was a big selling factor.
I got the Ergo bars dirrect from Klockwerks about a month ago.
Thanks. Chris

UPDATE:    Had a loose wire going into the deutch connector from the kill switch.  (found it with volt meter)  Now I can enjoy the new bars.  Thanks, Chris

I am looking to bring the bars closer to me.  Can you post a picture of your new bars?
Thanks

Bike is in the shop!!!    I was 600 miles from home when I heard a loud squeal from the rear cylinder area.  I drove it home and put it into the shop.  Hope to know something this week.  Bike has 14,000 total miles on it.  Service manager said " That don't sound good"
I really like the bars.  Was not able to re-use the heated grips.  The inside diameter on the bars  is smaller than stock , so the heating element would not slip inside.  All stock cables work fine.   Sorry that I don't have any pictures to share at this time.  Chris

Heat Demons will work in your bars...  And they have a better track record for long life than the MOCO heated grips...   :2vrolijk_21:
