Help me get the cherry bomb to the next step.
« on: June 14, 2009, 06:43:58 PM »

Hi Guys,

I just bought a 2005 SEEG, and love it.  I want to take the bike to the next step performance wise.  I was down at the dealer today and one of the parts guys was talking about 211 cams?  I am guy who does not know anything about performance, this 05 SEEG is my first CVO and I just want it to be awesome.  Any suggestions to take the bike to the next step?

Thanks

If you're considering cams only as a "next step" there are at least a couple out there designed with the 103 engine in mind that now have a history of doing a very good job.  Redshift 575 from Zippers and the YB13 from the Yuill brothers.  Can't really go wrong with either product.

Tank146,

I have tried the 211's in a bagger and was really disappointed in that they dont help get the heavier bikes moving it is a 3300 - 6500 cam it comes in late great on the top end, but most of us dont wind out a bagger that far normally.   Depends on where you want to ride the bike but at the lower compression 9.1 to 1 you should consider the choices that have a been a match that Twolane has already suggested to you.   I have run the 575 in the 103 and it is outstanding from the git go.   The yb13 comes in slightly later than the zippers cam.    In my wifes pumpkin I am running the yb13 gear drive with 10.5 to 1 pistons and some slight headwork and the bike puts out 117 tq / 115 hp.   So if you are looking to do this build in stages it is a good one to go with.

If you let people know what kind of riding you like to do and do normally there may be other suggestions for you.

Great choice in bikes as the Red ones are the fastest :)

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys.  The Zippers products look promising.  What kind of riding do I do?  Short trips, no touring.  Sounds like the Zippers 575 will give me more snap in the lower gears.

Thanks

Tank146,
You might want to talk to both companies and explain what you want to do. Give then the opportunity to tell you what they designed their products to do. That also gives you a reflection of their customer service and attitude. That might be real important if issues arise later.

Hey Tim!

Welcome to the Cherry Red Owners Club :cherry:

I put in a Woods Bro's TW9-BG cam. which has a decent power curve from about 2200rpm to about 3800, topping out at 115tq and 111hp on the dyno!
To help acheive this I had the heads ported and polished, put in a SE High Flow A.C., and a Race Tuner, with Rhinehart True Duals!
If you could hear me over the exhuast, you would hear me laughing each time I crack the throttle! It's a blast!

And everyone knows, "Arrest Me Red" is the fastest color! ;D

Keep us informed as to how it works out for you!

Did the 575's in mine - only mod except for SE Slip-ons and SE air filter and got 95HP and 114TQ.  Pulls stumps from 2200 RPM on up.
