I went with the SE 258 with high compression pistons and stage 1 head work to match the higher compression. Running true duals, racing tuner and adjustable pushrods. I started with the 251 and the rear end kept breaking loose - I wasn't looking for a crotch rocket wheelie bike so I changed to the 258 - more of what I was looking for - dynoed at 110 hp and 118 tq. Hope this helps.

Sounds like a fun bike to be driving! Did you go with the 100" SE 10.5 Compression pistons? Who dod the heads and how much if you don't mind me asking. What were you making for torque with the 251's in it? Thanks

Yes I went with the Harley high compression pistons - wanted as much factory and dealer coverage as possible. The heads were sent to a company in KC cost about 800.00 with freight. I will need to look up the dyno sheet next week when back in town to be accurate.

Thanks. I would also like to stay with HD parts. Does your bike ever get hot? Do you still have the stock compression release or did you have to switch to manual? Sorry for all the questions  but it sounds like you have exactly what I'm looking for.

I have an 07 ulta classic with a dealer installed 110 kit. When it was in for the head recall I went with the 251 cams and 10.5 pistons. I am happy with the setup. I think the low end is the same but it really came alive on the top end(3500 rpm+) This is conducive to my riding style so I'm happy. If you think you will find a set of cams that will give you more low end power think again. You will not out perform the 255 cams on the low end. If you want keep your low end about the same and give yourself more on the higher rpms I would highly recomend the 251 cams. I cannot attest to how they would do with the stock compresion as I did go with the higher compression pistons.

I did. And am happy so far. Today was the first solo ride where I could play a little. Very happy. Now I just need that damn Dyno done!

As of today all is well concerning heat. I have the stock ACR with no problems. I lost some mpg however - get about 160 to 180 miles per tank depending on how hard I ride - usually 70 to 90 mph. She runs really good at 85 @ 3000 rpms

Did you dyno your bike? From wht I understand the higher compression will make up for the cam change down low and give you more power up top. That sounds like a good setup. You did not have your heads pordted and cleaned up so I'm curious as to what kind of power you are making vs others that I have read about. Thanks for your information.

Sounds good. It has been raining nonstop here in RI since I bought this bike. I have only been able to take a short ride and then last Saturday made a last minute decison to blast up to Laconia. I noticed on the way ho,e that my gas light cam on at 154 miles. I was a bit concerned with that. I'm coming off a v-rod that got about 100-120 miles out of a tank (3.7gal)

As previously stated I did just put a V&H Pro Pipe on along with a PCIII. I'm hoping to put it on the dyno soon and check out the AFR and make sure I'm all set. I have a feeling that the supplied MAP is set up VERY safe. I too drove 3 hours home between 80-90mph. What a difference this 6 speed makes. I really enjoy riding this bike. i was a bit concerned that I would miss the v-rod. I have 4 friends that have v-rods and I thought my days of hot rodding were gone. I'm impressed at the factory power. I can lay down 2 gears of rubberr should my friends with the v-rod start acting up. Hopefully these bikes are built as good as the v-rods. You can't kill those v-rods.

Again, Thanks for all the replies :2vrolijk_21:

I have not had my bike dynoed yet. The dealer had a canned map they put in to start with until the motor got  broke in. Have not had time to get it back in for the dyno tune. Whatever map they put in runs good with no issues. I do need to get a good tune on it and find out some numbers. Before I went with this setup I dynoed at 90hp and 110ft lb. I know the bike runs alot better now but I don't have any numbers yet. when I get some I will post them.

It was great to see you and Brian.

AJ you are misleading people when you say play a little, watching you cringe as your bike got turned up above 3500 + rpms made me chuckle just a bit as you said I dont ever wind it up that far.  Looking forward to hearing your ride report on your bike.   It sure sounded good on the road.

Looks like Brian is in a running competition with Howie on motor rebuilds.  :huepfenlol2:
