lost the compass in the factory radio

the compass used to work, now it is not even there.  any ideas?

FActory Radio has a compass? I did not know that....

When battery is disconnected, the compass gets "lost". To re activate, insert the nav disc and re activate the nav system. There may be more to it but that's all I remember doing.
