I don't know, but I got the impression from my parts guy, that they were just "new", my guess would be, H-D knew the old gauges  would not match the lighting of the 09 gauges, & knew we would all start complianing about the mismatch when we started ordering  oil gauges for our new bikes.  Anyway that's the impression I got.   I got the same impression ref. the solo tour pack rack that does not install  without damaging the painted fender separators, I think they knew there was a problem, but waited for us to complian about it & for us to 1) demand a fix, 2) a new rack & 3)new fender separators for those that were damaged by the improperly designed solo rack.

They are lit differently and the MOCO does not have plans for a revision to match the 09 style.

The above is NOT correct, HD has changed the lighting for 09, and the new oil guage (the proper one) will be available by 4-19,
Do you have a part number for the new oil temperature gauge?

as far as i can tell and have been told by my dealer, there is no new gauage for the 09 CVO's.  I also put in the oil gauge and hoped that HD would come out with new one.  My dealer called HD and they said they are aware of issue, but have no plans on coming out with new one.

JETJOCKEY, Who told you this? No one except that guy and  you have heard of a 09 update for the gauge. Sure would like to have the part # you got from him.
I was standing there when parts mgr at local dealer called, she was told "no updated gauges this year".
I assume you have one, with you "hi-comp" you would probably want to monitor the temps.
