4" slip ons....what are the available choices??
« on: July 05, 2009, 08:11:36 PM »

What are the choices to consider if I wanted to go with 4" slip-ons for a 2009 Bagger (or if all goes well a 2010 SE Street Glide)? I know D&D has the 4" Boss slip-ons, but does anyone else have 4" slip-ons for a new bagger that I should also be considering? If there are more choices than D&D, does anyone know which one is likely to be the loudest (assuming everything else about the engine is equal)?

Thx

I'm sure there's many. Here's a link to Cobra.

+1 on the bassanis, got a set from dennis kirk $385.  Nice sound, louder than stock, not too loud.  Nice long big muffler. They also have a slant down and scallop cut version.  Put on with no a/c ran great, no popping on decel.  Got a/f, sest and dyno, 77.5hp 90tq on stock 09 street glide.

kURYAKYN makes the Crusher 4" slip on with 2 different tips. Mine are on order.
They have a very deep sound at idle.

Vance & Hines Basics are 4" and the regular Ovals are a little larger. And of course the Monsters are really large.

You might want to consider installing fullSac baffles in your stock mufflers.  For about $120 you can get the sound you want with different size baffles and keep the stock look.

Has anyone seen any dyno runs with Crushers? My read on these is that they may be just what I'm looking for with a "CC-less" header. I hoping to be one of the first to get a 2010 SESG and I suspect it will have the same bag extensions as the 09 SERG, therefore I will likely be limited to round mufflers vs ovals. I'm not aware of any round mufflers larger than 4".

I'm looking for performance and will likely get head/cams/tuning from Hillside/Joes cycle shop this winter. Planning to go with a 58mm TB, exhaust and RT straight from the dealer (assuming the a/c on a 2010 SESG is already high flow). Put a 1000+ miles this Fall and then get the head/cam work done this winter.

I would like to avoid making a mistake with the mufflers as I'd like it to "fit the bill" for the 1st stage of my plans as well as the upgrades this winter. Originally leaning towards D&D Boss Fatcat slip-ons with a catless stock header (or even their 2:1 with fake muffler).

The Kuryakyn/V&H Crusher may be another option to consider as I want loud without losing too much performance. I'm coming from a 03 Fatboy with a 102hp/108tq 95" that was VERY loud (258cam with V&H Big Shot Longs - high rpm bike). I'm looking for similar loudness with even more performance - both low and high end - which I hope to squeeze out of the 110 SESG.
