After reading posts on here about the D407F cupping and making noise going down the road, I turned my radio down and sure enough there was the sound. I had about 8K miles on it and it sounded like a dump truck going down the road. After hounding my local Harley dealer about it, they got the moco to agree to pay for half of the tire due to the amount of miles on it. I arrived at the dealer to have the D408F installed and they informed me that the moco wasn't going to pay for any of the labor. At this point I had 10600 miles on the tire.
I decided at this point to call HD customer service and ask for the entire tire and all labor to be paid for. The first customer service rep, and I use this term loosely, totally blew me off. I asked to talk to someone higher than her and she refused. She said it is Dunlop's problem, not the moco's. I hung up and then called back hitting 0 for the operator. I asked for Keith Wandell, the CEO. The lady that answered seemed stunned. She asked what the problem was and I explained. She asked if I would wait a few minutes while she got herself aquainted with the situation. She put me on hold for about 10 minutes and then asked me to take the bike to a Harley shop. I informed her I was already at one. She spoke to the service manager on my cell while I waited and gave him an authorization number...problem solved for me anyway.
It's a shame that the moco never asked to speak to me again and so far has not followed up to make sure the new tire is to my liking. What a waste of money for the moco. At least if they're going to spend the money to replace my tire, why not follow up and make it a positive experience. Now I'm writing on here to say how disappointed in the moco I am opposed to how well they handled the situation. I work for Lexus, and this type of customer service wouldn't be tolerated at all! I've bought 9 HD's and I currently own 6, and this is the way the moco treats their loyal customers in a recession?? I've read of many situations like this, but I've never experienced them personally. I hope this helps some of you down the road get your tire that we all deserve.
