My Dad's last ride
« on: July 17, 2009, 09:38:15 PM »

I just got back from a 2 week ride from Chicago to Glacier Nat'l Park in Montana. Roade through the rockies from Montana down to Denver, hitting Yellowstone, Teton's, Snowy Range Pass, Steaqmboat and many more places. A little history, 2 years ago my Uncle Ed passed away. He got me started in a lot of things I still do today. Photography, cooking, motorcycles, music. The fall before he passed, he asked his younger brother to help him fix up his old bike as he wanted to take one last ride up the east coast. They got it running again and he was able to ride around his neighborhood before it snowed. He died in March that year. I heard of this from my dad and I told him I would be honored to take Uncle Ed on that last ride. He and his wife met and roamed the rockies in the 60's&70's. But, I couldn't ask this as it's not my place. But my dad thought it was a great idea and asked for me. My grandma and Aunt Terri also agreed so I got some of his ashes and we took off for the Black Hills and ended up in Denver where I took him to Echo Lake at the base of Mt Evan's. After doing this my dad asked that I take him to be near his brother. My dad died this past September so I had to keep my promise. It was a sad ride out there doing the first week alone. I thought about my dad and Uncle Ed a lot, shed many tears and put my dad with his brother.
Here's a link to my 2009 ride and my 2007 ride if you are interested;

Great (sad, but uplifting) story and a better ending than most of us could ask for.  Nice job!
