Hidden Antenna???
« on: October 09, 2009, 03:06:35 PM »

I'm looking for a hidden antenna for my '05 SEEG and wondering which manufacturer has the best?

There are so many on the market, and I'm sure many on this site have an opinion on this topic...

So, let's hear from you!

Thanks in advance for your input.

Take care,
Grizzly

I recetly asked the same question. The results I got were that none of them will be as good as the big whip, but Tune Trapper seems to be the best performing one out there.

I have a tune trapper and it works great, will sell a new dakota ant for $60 if you want it.

Funny you should mention Dakota Digital antenna... That's just the one the dealer was trying to sell me.

Obviously you purchased it first and then switched to the Tune Trapper, how come?

I realize that you want to sell the Dakota, but wondering if the Tune Trapper is that much better for reception, etc.?

I plan on buying a tune trapper also. It's part of the winter mods when the fairing comes off. Speakers, amp, antenna, GPS wiring, etc.....

You might be interested in this antenna test I just found when surfing the net...

Good find....very informative and like the tester, I was surprised at how poorly the tune trapper performed. I guess I will look for a powered unit. But I still can't explain Mr Magoo's results :nixweiss: Maybe it's just the Dakota antenna that is not so good.

Got mine through EglideGoodies when I made the tour pak detachable. May not have quite the range of the big whip but gets weather and stereo comes in fine. Certainly nice when I'm running without the solo seat and no tour pak to have tunes. Gave up on the CB when I'm running stripped down but only used it to keep track of bears anyway.  ;D

I'm happy with this one I found on ebay. I couldn't get the nerve to drill a big hole in my new King TP for the whip mount. While in there I also put in a splitter for the whip on the chopped TP. It came with good instructions and will work well on a FLT or FLH.  Doc
