Could the AMSOIL be to SLICK for break in? I know LUCAS is not recommened for break in oil.  :nixweiss:

NO.  Synthetics are fine for "break-in".  There are a few diehards out there, Lucas obviously included, that still hold on to that old wives tale that synthetic is "too slick".  If that was the case, I don't think you would see so many auto companies using syn as factory fill.

If an engine isn't "broken-in" at 2700 miles, it isn't going to be "broken-in".  I would start looking at a controlled consumption test to determine an accurate useage level, and then go from there.  Who did the rebuild, and what do they have to say about the situation?

I agree with Don, the low oil pressure may have a lot more to do with low idle speed than anything else.  One quart low on oil should not starve the pump for oil at idle.

 Hard10,
Curious as to your odometer reading when you had your motor rebuilt? My 110 burns alittle oil as well.. Had a '02 EG Standard that hardly used any oil between changes..JohnT.
