Download for rear speakers
« on: July 26, 2009, 09:21:59 AM »

I finally got my tour pack mounted and speakers installed. The speakers do work without the download. What exactly dose the download do? Why should I even consider paying xtra $ for something that should have been included with the speakers themselves? Which I probably will anyway. They sound great by the way and I removed the Hog Tunes amp and speakers. Running all stock H.D. stereo equipment................Fuzz

Rich, the dealer effort doesn't turn on the rear speakers.  They're always there.  What the dealer effort does is turn on the front to rear fade control.

The fader, the country code and the intercom are the only things the dealer can turn on.  All the other options are plug and play across the radio's CAN bus.  Since the radio is the bus master you plug them in and the radio turns them on and uses them.

If I'm not mistaken once the dealer sets a country code, turns on the intercom function or activates the fader they are on forever also.  Once he's turned them on he can't turn them back off.

That is true Fuzz and Don the rear speaker wiring you gained by adding the ultra harness for XM contains the wiring yuou need for the rear speakers. You just need to splice into the rear speaker wiring. I installed the rear speakers and Hawg Wired on GH SERG and the speakers worked fine. Then he took it to hisdealer and they charged 1/2 hour labor to turn on the fader.
