Rack options for SERK
« on: July 13, 2009, 01:12:14 AM »

I have to put a rack on my bike -got to carry the wife for a week and aalllll her stuff.
My bike is a 2008 SERK. Can anybody confirm that the sissy bar rack (53011-98) WONT fit. I cant see how it could attach to the low sissy bar standard on my bike.
My alternative would be fitting the docking point hardware (53988-07) and either the worlds ugliest rack (53743-97) or throwing the tour-pak rack on (53276-04) and strapping a bag down to that.

Thoughts appreciated / and better ideas maybe....

Cheers from Oz...

Here is the set up i have on my 07 SERK #52933-97B Standard Height Sissy Bar, 53011-98 Luggage Rack, Not sure if the luggage rack will work with the short sissy bar that came on these bikes or not. I took mine off 2 or 3 days after i bought the bike and went with the standard height sissy bar then added the rack.

It won't work with the short sissy bar. You have to get the standard height.

really the detatchable rack doesnt look that bad, especially with the t-bag on it. Its not like your going to run it all the time anyway...when I get where I am going the backrest, rack and windshield all go in the room and we go to the bar!

Has anyone used this sissy bar/luggage rack combination setup on their SERK?  HD part# 53341-97A Chrome Four-Channel Luggage Rack and Sissy Bar.

I am curious why I have not seen this on any bikes yet.

You sure you want something like that Rich? That's not a DETACHABLE rack. Once it's on, you're leaving it on. My friend used it on his EG Standard back in '99. It works OK, but nothing great to look at, and like I said, it's permanent. :nixweiss:

I believe this permanentrack actually attaches to the license plate bracket which usually sits on the curved chrome fender strut support.  This will not work with the license plate on the SERK which is located at the bottom of the fender.
