A little too close for comfort.
« on: September 01, 2009, 01:20:11 PM »

Last night a bunch of us went to the Dodgers game. It was still daylight when the game started and the air was choked with smoke and debris. As the sun went down we could see the fires off in the distance behind the stadium. It was an eerie feeling that I found to be most unsettling. It was sometime during my $13.00 beer after watching a 'roided up Manny hit a single home run that I had a foreshadowing vision. I drew the analogy we were like the Roman "Mob" in the Colosseum enjoying "Bread And Circuses" watching "Gladiators" at combat while off in the distance the countryside burned. If you look between the two stadium lights you will see the fires.

Is this the same fire that claimed a Harley dealership a few days ago? That's kinda scary.

I got caught in one several years ago while driving between San Diego and Newport Beach.  It is scary as hell (literally)  the authorities moved us off the highway into a mall parking lot and ashes were falling on the car.

Being a Chicago guy we'll let you keep the fires, mud slides and earthquakes.  I would like Jim Thome back though!!!

Huge White Sox fan and it was been a horrible August!

Good luck!!

Sadly, Auburn HD burned in a fire in Northern CA a few days ago.  They were able to salvage most of the bikes...

If you recall the early 90's, it was said we have five seasons in CA,

That's easy, just pick a week that we still have some water; that we're not burning   :sunny:; that the hillsides are not falling   :vrolijk_15:  :o; that we're not shaking  :nervous: and we're not shooting each other   :furious3:  :rifle:.  I think we can

 squeeze you in November 2033.

Seriously,  Feb. is the wettest month.  Otherwise, it's great!  Have you ever watched the Rose Parade / Bowl?  It's always gorgeous!  In So Ca., October - November are beautiful....   Labor Day weekend is always a great time to go up the coast to Montery...  or San Juan Bautista.   :xyxthumbs:
