If your scoot (ECM) ever takes a dump and you don't have the tune your screwed.............. that's about all I can say about that.

FWIW: I agree with this post. How are you expected to restore your map that you paid for if you have a problem without a copy??? you may be far away on a trip when an event happens to cause you to have to "reload".

Also, it is important for you to know that you can't view the current map in your bike with the new Supertuner either just as you couldn't with the old SERT. This is a big disadvantage for the SSERT in my assessment because you may want to make small incremental adjustments to your existing maps. The only advantage is the new data logger component BUT you need to have the bungs and the computer with your existing map in it to "upload" the logged/suggested changes into so you can make them and save the map--to your computer and to a CD in case you need it.

If you have been following Steve's TT Master Tune postings then you will now see the reason his product may be a better solution.  (please read and make your own personal decision)

I for one would like to be able to "view" the map in my bike and upload it into my computer and save it in its native form.

I am hoping that HD will see the error in their ways and release a modification/enhancement that fixes this critical issue.

You fellows are not wrong in what you're saying.  As I said,  I knew this upfront and in the unlikely event that my ECM dies,  I'll just have to reflash with the canned map.

But then you need to carry the canned map with you on a portable PC or CD and your bike may not run very well. It's a "Catch 22" to say the least.

Not necessarily.... You can store it online with a free email service then when needed just go online and download it. Most dealers now days will have internet access so it's easily accessible.

So I guess giving mine to my dealer wasn't that bad an idea, I can always call them up.

You are just too clever!!!

Of course since the dealer won't give him his own map in any media then there's nothing ot store.......

BTW: Have you used a Blackberry or a Ipod to download maps to your bike yet???? Just curious...
