Rinehart vs. Bassani slip-ons
« on: September 30, 2009, 11:38:04 AM »

I currently have Rineharts on my CVO Street Glide. Not happy with sound volume(tone yes, Volume no). Was thinking about switching to Bassani's. Does anyone have the Bassani's? And how do you like them?

No history with Bassani.  Did you look (and listen) at Cobra slip ons?  You can se them on YOUTUBE on a '09 COV RG.  Search YOUTUBE for "2009 FLRTSE 3 with cobra slip ons".  Nice Harley tone and not too loud.  If you look at it let me know what you think.  Happy riding!  :)

I've heard some good sounding Bassani's but the thing don't like about them is that most of the ones I've seen have a real problem with bluing.  I can't stand pipes or muffs that turn blue.  But that's just me.  ;)

I'm running the Bassani 4" Scallop Cut with V&H power duels and I think they sound great.   I have the 2-1/2" baffles, only mistake I feel I made was, when they were brand new I removed the baffles and cut the fiberglass wrap off both of them.   They still don't sound bad, but they lost some of that deep rumble and developed a tinny raspy sound when you crack the throttle.   Before removing the packing they were very smooth and deep when you were on the throttle.

I was concerned with the blueing issues with the Bassani as well.   I followed their instructions for seasoning the chrome, and I've never had an issue so far.   I have 6k miles on them, and not even a hint of blueing.

I have the Rinehart's and they are great.

My buddy had the Bassani's but had the bluing issue and replaced them with the Rineharts.

You must like loud.  Mine have a great sound and I quietened them down with baffle material.

Guess I'm getting old and soft.

This is not a answer for your question.... But have you considered keeping the Oem look using Steve's (FullSac) baffles installed ? IMO... Great choice for sound, performance, and looks  :2vrolijk_21:
