TTS mastertune blending
« on: October 25, 2009, 12:03:09 AM »

I received my dual TTS mastertune and immediately went to work on my 08 FXDWG.  Everything went pretty smoothly but I'm a little nervous about blending the VE tables after tuning.  My VEs (and most examples I've looked at) have a definite ridge and I'm worried that blending depends on how well I've characterized the ridge.  The preloaded maps are pretty different from my Vtune maps which has me concerned.  For example, the AE176 map starts at 74.5% and ramps smoothly to 87.5%.  My bike starts at 84% but I can't get data for the end point.  I don't know how to run 750rpm and 100% TPS?  Do I run 84% all the way across?  Doc's guide says I should, my intuition says it doesn't matter since I can't get there anyway.  Anyone have any blending experience they would like to share?  Is there a general shape to the VE map I should follow?

Thanks,
Richard

Consult the Tuning Guide and put word "trend" in the search. (Or pgs. 58-62)
That will take you right to a great tutorial about blending/trending VE's.

Likely you won't get much actual 750 RPM data btw.
Yes, tuned VE's often differ significantly from the base cal VE's.
This is one of the many reasons we tune...to give our particular engine the fuel delivery it wants.
