SE266E cam in 2008 110 CVO???
« on: February 03, 2010, 08:33:13 PM »

I purchased a used 2008 FLHRSE4 that had the following upgrades done while in for the gasket recall.
Upgrades were done at 10,000 miles and bike has 10,500 on it now.
The motor is stock other than the below.  Also, the gasket never leaked but was replace anyway.

SE 266 E pro twin cam
SE rocker arm support
Quick install pushrod kit
Cam bearings
SE Pro Super Tuner
SE slip on exhaust (Very Loud, almost too loud)

My question is, if this is an okay setup?  The bike runs excellent, but will it be reliable?

who the F put that cam in there? damn dealership mechanics r idiots... that cam is WAY too big for stock compression (9.3:1)... that cam is too big even for the 10.5:1 compression pistons... take that cam out, sell it, and install an HQ500, or similar cam with an Intake Close around 36...

HD dealership in NC put the cam in, the paper work came with the bike!   I was concerned about the size myself and I'm not a wrench.

So if I leave it, what is the worst that could happen?

You should never have starter issues. ::) That's the worst case.
Put in the domed pistons, and you may be surprised. They will help the soft bottom end power. :o

I will look into those domed pistons, I will also call the dealership to see if they cleared the heads to accomodate the lift and also to see if they changed gaskets to raise compression.
Thanks

Don't have a 110, but don't even think the gasket thickness is gonna help ya......this thing probly needs 11.5-1 or better? :nixweiss:Would'n the heads need some major work also? :nixweiss: Wonder where the torque curve starts and stops on this thing?? :nixweiss:Don' know, just wonder'n.....but these guys can surely steer ya in the right direction....many knowledgeable engine people here, good luck with it!! :2vrolijk_21:

a lot of cam for that  bike..  would pull the heads and have a little  work done on get the squish right. slap in a  cam that will pull a lot better down low. that ,the motor has to be a slug down low and even midrange unless you have close to 11.1

Put in the +11 cc domed pistons, clip the heads .015".If you want, lightly fluff the ports, and you'll be surprised how well it will run.  ;D It will also make a decent # on the dyno. :o
