Jiffy stand on internatonal models

Does anyone have an international model that with the jiffy stand down the bike won't start when in gear?

I have an Australian model but it doesn't have this feature even though listed in the manual.

Apparently if the stand is down it is supposed to tell you in the display where the odometer is???

nope. I looked at the manual again and it does say "some international".

A shame as it is a great safety feature.
