Like the 585 it is more suited for a lighter bike. I would look at some others, unless you are going to raise compression and do some head work!

I used the Cycle Rama CR575 cam, absolutely no cam noise.

I would not be jumping in with both feet with that 583. It is "easy start" and you already have compression releases working. You may end up with "no start" especially cold. I am not an S&S basher but IMO there are better choices for the 110 even in the S&S line like the old but chain drive version of the 570. Comparing the 583 to the 585 (easy start version) is like comparing a SE255 (stock 110) to a SE259, two different animals, and the 585 needs a lot more compression to work properly.

A lil head work and only a 1/2point bump in CR with a 110 engine, the 585 works GREAT! Brings the whole TQ curve down, compared to using that cam in a smaller displacement engine. That smaller engine would also require a higher CR to work well. The 110 works fine with that cam at 9.8:1 CR. :2vrolijk_21: ;)

Don't know much about them easy start cams, but I'd not have 2 working comp release devices at the same time. If the cam specs are the same (easy start vs regular), it would be a good time to remove the stock ACR's and just use the cams for comp release. If they work as intended that is.

When I said a lot less I meant it in the context of this motor. When you compare the 583 with it's 15° (yes that's no mistype 15) degree intake close VS the 585 which has a 45° intake close.

For comparison purposes calculated actuals based on 0 deck head chamber stock 96cc:

Stock motor, stock cam
9.3/1 static, corrected for cam 9.02/1 Cranking compression 185psi
Same motor with S&S 583, no other changes
9.3/1 static, corrected for cam 9.21/1 Cranking compression 190psi (~happy~)
Same motor with S&S 585, no other changes
9.3/1 static, corrected for camshaft 8.39/1 Cranking  compression 169psi (very soft low end torque, late to come on)
Same motor heads milled .060, S&S 585
9.88 static , 8.9/1 corrected for camshaft Cranking compression 182psi (ho hum low end torque, a little better regular gas OK)
Same motor with 10.5/1 pistons, stock head chamber, S&S 585
10.35/1 static, 9.3/1 corrected for camshaft Cranking compression 193psi (~happy~)

Want an S&S cam for a stock motor use the 570 bottom line. With the 570 it will be ~happy~ at a 9.8/1, easily done with a head mill and have great torque right off idle. Avoid the easy start stuff IMO and just use the factory releases. If you have to have easy start OK but defeat the ACR solenoids with software or unplug them. If you want to use the 583 use it with a stock motor and don't expect anything earth shattering over stock, same note on the releases.

In a heavy bike with a stock motor, I have to agree with Dewey. The 570 is a good TQ cam and a better choice than the 583's or the 585's, but I would still look at the 575's.
