NC Trip fron Cajun Country

Well we finally did it. We left Houma, La. on Thursday 11/5 and departed for our journey to the Smokies to endure some of the natural beauty and challenging riding that they have to offer.
 
We totaled 1766 miles in 3 1/2 days, and saw as much as we could in the time frame alloted. Though I wish now we had scheduled more days to see more things.

We left Houma, La in 80 deg. weather and arrived in NC with lows in the 30's. WOW what a change. Needless to say, when we arrived @ Smokey Mntn HD, we bought a few COLD weather items.

Did the Tail, Cherahola Skyway, Smokey Mntn Nat Park, Blue Ridge Pkwy and a few other roads that we scouted. WOW what some fantastic riding and actually improved my skills of bike handeling from previous experience.

Make plans to attend the 2010 Maggie Valley Gathering!  You'll have have a chance for more great mountain riding!  You'll also make a lot of new friends, eat some good food and maybe have a coctail or two!

I mentioned it to my wife and she would like to make that trip next year for the gathering. We enjoyed Maggie Valley, very quaint little community. Looking forawrd to meeting some of the people I chat w/ on this site.

Looks like you had a great trip. I would like to make the Smokies someday.  I live in Bunkie, LA. and ride a 2009 SERG.  What route did you take, and how was the Dragon.

We took Hwy 59 all the way to Chatanooga, Tn. Then went up to Tellico Plains to catch the Cherahola Skyway, then booted around to catch the rest of the rides.

The dragon was awesome. Alot different than riding flat roads like down here.
