Twist Grip Sensor
« on: November 24, 2009, 11:39:59 AM »

Anyone know why the dealer says the twist grip sensor needs to be replaced when changing out the bars?  Is it the plug lenght?  I'm going to change the bars and have plenty of slack, it appears, in the clutch line and brake line.  Last one I did there was enough length to the handlebar controls that I didn't need anything longer.  Anybody knows, please give me a shout. thanks.

I have installed the reach pullback bars on my wife's 09 FLHX and now doing my 10 SEUltra.  You do not need a new sensor.  Like you have found out, there is enough wire inside the fairing.  Will know in a couple days on the clutch/brake lines.   On my wife's clutch cable, cable was simply rerouted and the brake line was tweaked a little at the master cylinder.

Thanks.  I figure it will be alittle easier then the 07 because of the throttle cables.  I figured the parts guy was trying to sell me. Sucks cause my wife works there. I'm going with the Wild Ones WO575's.  Don't know if you looked at them but I had them on the 07 and they are stout.  Alittle thicker 1 1/4" and alittle wider.  Very comfortable.  Thanks again for the insight.

It's a Harley thing.  The book says replace the sensor when replacing the bars, so that's what the dealers recommend.
