ARP Bolts
« on: November 23, 2009, 03:11:11 PM »

I've started swapping out many of my GR-8 Allens with SS 12pt ARP bolts from Totallystainless.com.  I've been using the SpreadSheet floating around here as a guide for the proper bolt sizes.  I have a general question to anyone else who has done this, or anyone who has used these types of bolts.  When is it necessary to use a washer under the head of the bolt?  These bolts have a flange that is about the same size as the washer, so is it necessary to use a washer?  If not always, then when?  I noticed in the spreadsheet that washers were called for most places, but not all.  I know its not a big deal, but its just my anal retentive side.

I don't know the correct technical answer, but I always use a washer under any bolt that's going through a piece of chrome or any aluminum alloy so as to not scratch or mar it up.

If there wasn't a washer on the original, why put one on the replacement?
I used Alloyboltz on both my Deuce and SERG.  They have engine, trans, primary kits plus seperate bolts, nuts and washers.  Good people. :)
