Wrapping Baffles tip

What you can do if you want to reduce the sound level is to wrap the baffles you have with a fiberglass wrapping material that is sold in most off road motorcycle shops.

The trick when wrapping a baffle is to not wrap the baffle too tightly.
wrap the baffle loosely and use a couple bands of masking tape to compress the material while you re-assemble the muffler. After a short time of riding the tape will burn off allowing the packing material to expand and fill the volume between the baffle core and the muffler shell for the most sound reducing affect.
Wrapping a baffle tightly can have the opposite effect and can actually make the mufflers louder.

Perhaps some of you may find this useful?

The last time I wrapped my baffles, within an hour I had blown it all out. One of the guys riding behind said it looked like chicken feathers were being blown out. This was a V&H Pro Pipe on a Jims 120 build putting out 131 hp and 134 lb. ft. torque.
