Finally.....
« on: June 06, 2010, 04:30:45 PM »

I have been lurking around this part of the forum for a while now but I really couldn't contribute. Didn't own a FLTRSE3. That'll change soon as I just put a deposit on one and will pick it up next weekend. Orange, sert, fullsacs and a couple other add-ons. Looking forward to becoming an owner.  :huepfenjump3:  First cruiser in a while for me.

That's how I started out on this site, just lurking.  :huepfenjump3:I had just bought my OB SERG in Erie Pa. and rode it home to Georgia last August and started looking for some info and these folks suckered my right in.  :D :D  I'm in debt up to eyes trying to keep up with the required (and most wanted by me) up grades. So be very careful or your working overtime to help pay the bills, but with each up grade, the smile gets bigger and bigger. ;D ;D Got my third road trip planned for the year, going back to Pa, for the Johnstown rally later this month, 2 1/2 weeks in the twisties up and back. The SERG is a great road and twisties bike, so CONGRATS on picking a winner. :2vrolijk_21:

This is the best place to help you spend money, and some of the guys on here probably know almost everything there is to know about these bikes.  And hold on tight when you get it - OB is the fastest color.  Welcome to the site and to the FLTRSE3 world!

Congrats,  the orange makes a great starter bike.  Keep practicing and you too can move up to a yellow!

Orange is it for me. I had a 1970 Chevelle SS454 that was Hugger Orange (shouldn't have sold that one... >:()

No pictures of it yet but I have it home. I road it home with a Danny Gray solo seat that the previous owner had installed. Not a good seat for a 150 mile ride. May as well have been sitting on plywood. Reminded me of the seats on Honda RC51's. Other than that it was a great maiden voyage. Handles fine, nice and stable on the interstate. I didn't push it hard in the corners but I will find out its cornering capabilities as soon as I can ride it legally (may take a week or 2 or 4) for the title to get processed/released from the previous owners credit union. I have to track down an owners manual for it as the old owner could not locate it. I checked with a couple local dealers and they need to be ordered none in stock.

While I was stopped topping off the gas tank, a family asked if they could take a picture of the "coolest looking Harley ever". I told them absolutely. A quick confirmation that I made a good purchase decision.

Swapped out the seat for the original, replaced the Klock Werks w/s with the stock shortie (the rubber gasket is very uncooperative - I think I have it wedged in right). Not sure how tight the screws should be. I am figuring the wellnuts can't take too much tightening.

Now it will be relegated to cleaning until I can get it registered in my name (downside of buying from a private owner).

Part # 99577-09 for the owner's manual.  Happen to have one on my desk.  Not mine though.  Got left behind when a someone I know came by to show off his new bike last week.
