Anyone know how a Trike is Dyno'ed?
« on: February 02, 2010, 07:32:42 PM »

This came up in a conversation at the dealer today.  How do they Dyno a Trike?  or is it load a map and let it go?

Maybe a silly question.

I watched them run them at the factory BEFORE they put on the rear end, but, I think maybe it'd fit on a car dyno once they put the box and rear end on the bike.
Don't know of any shop that has that capability.

you can run it on car dyno,But they usually will charge more. The newer dynos can do it
with the water rollers and the software. The real problem is getting it strapped down right
to the drive rollers, not much to work with on the front end of a trike like a vehicle were you
can strap and lock down both front tires.

I do not know anyone that can do it.

If you are going to do a converson kit, you need to build the motor first and get that all done than do the converson and you are good to go.

If it is on a factory bike can only do the down load and hope for the best, or if it is a newer bike use a "T max" and let it tune as you ride it.

I don't think car dyno's will work. The software is not set up for it.

I wonder if the off road 4-wheelers shops would have one? I have not looked into this.

They have a trike dyno at Tilleys HD in statesville.  They did my wifes trike. can search here http://www.dynojet.com/dyno_centers/default.aspx then just call to see who can do a trike but I know Tilleys in Statesville, NC can.
