I was going to comment on this post but upon giving it some more thought I figure I'd best leave well enough alone

I'm dissapointed in you B B
Comparing an '08 to an '03 is not exactly apples to apples, as they are two TOTALLY different engines. With the '03 103" motor, you have, IMO, one of the best motors HD ever made. With the exception of the cam chain tensioners, it is a very reliable engine, and that weak link is easily fixed if you're planning on doing cams, as you can do either gear driven or the newer style tensioners. A "drop in" cam, like some already suggested, and good tune, would be the less expensive thing to do, and give you a bit more punch than you currently have, WITHOUT getting into the motor in a serious way and doing head work, pistons, blah, blah, blah. In your original post, you mentioned that you did not want to sink a bunch of money into the bike at this point, so just cams, a tune, and the 6 speed would be a great bang for the buck change, IMO. Jim (HD dude here on the site) can help you out with choices, and if you live anywhere near northern California, he'd be the one doing the work, if I were in your shoes. Unfortunately, he is about 2K miles away from me...
