I love my '09 FXD
« on: March 30, 2010, 12:04:33 AM »

and have since the day I rode it home from the dealer.
The difference between the TC96 and my old '66 74 inch shovel is nothing short of phenomenal.
But, I had to do something about the way it sounded so I got a set of slip-on Silver Bullets, I loved it even more
Then I got to thinking, with the free flowing exhaust wouldn't it be better if it could breath in a little easier? So I installed a SE A/C. That sure made my heart race to hear it roar when I twisted its tail.
Now, I had noticed it seemed to get a little hot when sitting in SoCal traffic and I said to myself "I should help my love to be cooler so I purchased and installed a set of Xieds to enrich the AFR just a bit. My Baby paid me back by not heating to the point that it engaged parade mode once since I put them on and she seemed to gain just a little oomph.
But long distance lovemaking was causing me some discomfort. A seat up grade helped some and a set of mini apes made for pleasure I hadn't envisioned.
So checking out what information there is for this honey of a motorcycle, and there's a ton of opinion, I found some information that told me I just might be starving her for fuel when I'm 3/4 to WOT. Almost all the rest of the time she runs in closed loop so the stock MAP adjusts for the better breathing with out any changes.
the result is in a few days I'll be making my version of love to her as I happily fit her with a new Thundermax Autotuner.
I can't wait to feel her respond to this latest addition to our affair.
I've also noticed her chassis is a little sloppy. Soon I'll tighten that up with a Sputhe stabilizer.
Yep, I love My FXD.

If there is one thing I learned about Harleys from my old FLH, it was that they are never finished.
Once I got the old bike where I wanted it, it became time to move on, even if it was unexpected.
Now my son has it and it's going through another metamorphisis.
