V+H Dresser True Duals baffles
« on: February 11, 2006, 10:41:09 PM »

Just would like to know if you guys running the V+H dresser true duals are leaving baffles in or taking them out. I had them tuned with the baffles in (screamin eagle EFI race tuner)  now I took baffles out, bike got alot louder (maybe too loud) and need to be retuned, just tweeked a little, but would have to take back to the dealer to be done. I like loud bikes and am willing to lose some performance.  I did take it outside and let it idle and cracked the throttle and it is very loud, I like it but I hate to offend alot of other people in the process. The thing is doing these changes this time of the year in Wisconsin I couldn't really take the bike down the highway and compare sound and performance for myself. Debating what to do, I am going to Daytona and want everything operating good. I am going to get the bike on the road somehow before I leave but would appreciate your feedback.

First off you need to ride it to see if you have created any monsters that need to be addressed such as popping on decell, break up on accell, sluggishness etc.   If its just a loud factor and you really have no other issues then its a decision you will have to make.   by taking out the baffles you have removed some of the back pressure which may in turn hurt your performance and you could lose quite a bit on the low end and gain some back on the high end.   What I would do is ride and pay the dealership to just give me a 50 dollar run to see Air Fuel / numbers with no tuning and then compare to give you a baseline on both.  From there it should be an easy decision for you to tune or not retune ... or get 2 maps done if your so inclined so you can switch up depending on how your looking to ride at different intervals baffles in / baffles out.

snicker snicker....duh.  ;D   Let us know how they sound with the baffles in.  I like the way those mufflers look, but I don't know how they sound...

The pipes sound great with the baffles in, I just miss the the pop on deceleration. I really am glad I went with these pipes they look awesome. Just have to be aware of some clearance issues between primary and side cover.

I ALSO HAVE A SET OF VANCE AND HINES DRESSER DUALS WITH THE CLASSIC TURN DOWN MUFFLERS AND THEY ARE WAY LOUD. COULD NOT IMAGINE PULLING OUT THE BAFFLES OR EVEN REMOVING THE FIBERGLASS PACKING (IT WILL BURN OUT SOON ENOUGH).
EVERYBODY SAYS THEY SOUND GREAT, AND I AGREE.
