Headset Operation Question
« on: March 21, 2010, 11:50:03 AM »

A brand new H-D Boom Headset is not working on my '09 SEUC. Intercom and CB are OFF. With the speaker switch in the forward position the headset icon appears in the radio display. I've checked both the rider and passenger positions...no sound from either. I bought the bike used (only 2700 miles) so it's an unknown. Before I return the headset to my local dealer is there some additional setting or control I have not activated? Thanks in advance for the help.

Jerry,
The icon appears when ya plug in.  Press intercomm soft button and toggle intercom on and raise vol up to 3-4 bars, then press com soft button , toggle cb on and raise com vol up 3-4 bars, then give her a try.  The cd taht came with will upgrade firmware to most current version.  To upgrade key on, turn radio off, hold both soft buttons 1&2 at same time and turn key back on while holdin buttons, then radio will go into program mode... on right it will read update, press and it will prompt insert cd, takes a little time to load, your 09 version will be a couple back from the current version, but makes any vox break issues go away.  That mic and speaker set is FAR superior to the old one.

Sorry Opossum...the software upgrade and your INT and CB adjustment did not fix. Any other suggestions?

Got tunes in the other two poaitions?  Middle should be CB/Intercim in headset radio etc external and lower position all external.  Did ya try pluggin in passenger plug?  Know anybody with another mic set to try?  That's all I got. You may have to cycle your ignition off/on for software upgrade???

There is two sides to the volume control. Make sure the volume contol is turn up in the intercom set mode for thr front and rear first and then adjust the vplume comtrol on the radio side and it should work. In the 09 manual on pages 99 to 101 it will explain.

Yep, the other two speaker switch positions work fine. I verified the radio has the new software via Harley's update instructions. I'm a bit stumped. I will return the headset and see if they can check on another bike.

Thanks. Already tried the Intercom and CB volume. No luck.

Well, my local dealer tried the Boom Headset on another new bike in the showroom...no output. Standard headset worked fine. Ordered me a new one...finally arrived and tried it today...no output. This can't be this hard. Is there some issue with the new Boom Headsets? I'm stumped..............
