Stock compensator vs SE compensator for a 110 engine

Anyone know the diff between the two?  My stock compensator on my CUSE3 110" was diagnosed as "bad" and is being replaced with a SE compensator.  Service dept says it's an upgrade...anyone know what is different about them?

My problem showed itself as an occasional grinding starter and kicks out...so starter, clutch basket, and compensator (and something else??) is being replaced.
Previously, I had a failed rear cylinder ACR which may have damaged the starter and related parts.

The SE compensator gives added protection to the crankshaft, as does the IDS system.  Here is a good explanation of why:
