Boom Headset Problem Solved
« on: April 15, 2010, 11:42:28 AM »

Finally solved the problem with the new Boom Headset on my '09 SEUC. A big THANKS to the tech at H-D of Baltimore who helped me. It was something simple as I suspected. First off, this is the first bike I've owned with headset capabilities...so I was going in blind. The problem was the headset connector would only engage with the Key side down, and that WILL NOT WORK. The tech had to lightly bend one of the pins so it would engage with the Key up. This condition occured on two new Boom Headsets. To compound this problem Harley does not give you any picture or wording to tell us 'headset newbies' which way to orient the connector...so I have provided one. I spend a great deal of time writing Test Procedures so I know the cliche' "A picture is worth a thousand words" works. Hopefully this will help someone else in the future.

Thanks. I have not tried mine yet and would not have known this. Glad you got this solved and helped others. BTW, I grew up in Perry Hall back in the late 70's. Ride Safe.
