Race Tuner Kit (Screamin Eagle)
« on: January 31, 2006, 05:47:45 PM »

Hello everyone!

I have a 2004, Screamin Eagle FLHTCSE...

I love it, I have a buddy of mine with one as well...  And he has purchased this:

Screamin' Eagle Pro Race Tuner Kit, refer here: http://www.motorcycledaily.com/harleyefiracetunerkit.html

My question is this, I have been told by some of the fella's that I cannot use another's kit.  Is this true and if so why?  I have a Race Tuner installed currently, and when I purchased the bike, I never got the cables for it.  Is it possible for me to use my buddies cables without having to purchase this whole kit again?

Any help concerning this is greatly appreciated and thanks ahead...

Ride em hard!!!

As I remember you can use your buddies  cables to tune yours. You can NOT put that tuner on another bike, it has been ID to your bike. ALSO Harley can also tell if their has ever been a tuner installed on your bike.

Thanks Mate.

I thought so.....See to me a cable is a cable is a cable.....So I didnt see why there was any reason I couldn't use his...

I have the race tune box already installed, and the bike is tuned great, I was just concerned for if I wanna change out the cams or exhaust or anything else.  The bike may need retuning....

You've been a great help.

Thanks!

That little black box recognizes only one ECM, the initial bike you hook it to. Once the codes and information are exchanged between bike and ecm that locks them together from the race tuner side. You can use another new race tuner if you damage or lose your's the ecm doesn't care. Its the race tuner itself that after being used once will only recognize that first bike it was used on.........

Soemthing like that is how it was explained to me.......a long while back. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

You can use any cables, but you need the "key" which is what I call the racetuner. [highlight]They dont put any black box on the bike, they hook the key up to it with the cables and it writes to your ecm. I'm like 99 percent sure here[/highlight].
That's correct.

HEY TRIPPIN'
I heard from one buddy of yours, that another buddy of yours just took delivery on an '06 FLHTCUSE. And you're worried about being FAST enough to hang. So you might want to leave your race tuner alone until you drill some holes in your air cleraner cover. ;) ::) :-*

[smiley=banana.gif]  Hey Hiway Man - blah blah blah blah blah - thanks for the tip.  The more holes I drill in my breather, the faster I go!  For each hole, I gain 1 horsepower.  Let the games begin - - - - - [smiley=jalapeno.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

HEY TRIPPIN,
Remember the Screamin Eagle seminar we went to? They said the more air you let in the air you have to let out. You may have to drill hole in your exhaust too. ;D I'm gonna leave my SE at stage one. If the need for speed doesn't get satisfied I might just buy this old friend.
