Metzeler Tires for 07 Serk
« on: May 16, 2010, 10:01:57 PM »

Just ordered Metzeler tire for my 07 Serk. I  am tired of the howling noise . 3 rd set of Dunlops and all have cupped in first 5000 miles and I always check pressure, ride solo. Hope these are good , I had them on my Deuce and liked them.  Will let everyone know how I like them  Billy

07 SERK
Got 10,000 miles out of the original Dunlop rear tire, 10,000 out of the second rear, and 20,000 out of thr oroginal front. Mounted Metzelers @ 20,000 and find the front not feeling as smooth as the Dunlops, but time will tell.

GOOD LUCK WITH THE METEZLERS, I HOPE THEY SOLD YOU THE RIGHT TIRE. I HAD THEM ON MY 2007 SOFTAIL CUSTOM 200X17 AND WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER METEZLER TIRE AGAIN. I LIVE IN AUSTRALIA AND THE ROAD SURFACE IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT TO WHAT YOU GUYS HAVE. I GOT 7,500 KLMS OUT OF THE ORIGINAL DUNLOPS, PUT ON METZELERS AND GOT 3,400 KLMS OUT OF THE FIRST REAR TIRE, THE DISTRIBUTOR SAID SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND SAID THEY WOULD SORT IT OUT, SO I BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE AS I WAS IN ANOTHER BIKE SHOP. I GOT 3,600 KLMS OUT OF THE NEXT TIRE BY INCREASING PRESSURE FROM 38 TO 40 LBS, WHEN I HIT THE ROOF THEY DID'NT WANT TO KNOW AND TOLD ME I HAD FITTED THE WRONG TIRE. I E-MAILED HEAD OFFICE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND STILL NO REPLY. I GOT 10,000 KLMS OUT OF THE FRONT TIRE BUT THE REARS ARE REDICULOUS. I HAVE SINCE SWITCHED TO AVON COBRAS AND HAVE OVER 10,000 KLMS AND STILL GOING. I HAVE A 09 CVO SPRINGER [ONLY 2,000 KLMS] AND WOULD APPRECIATE FEEDBACK ON TIRES TO SUIT. ALL THE BEST FROM DOWNUNDER.

Didn't the SE Road King come with radials? When I looked at the bike, I thought
it had them on? :cherry:

Yes the bike did come with radials but they were Dunlop and the rear tire cupped after4 5 K miles on all 3 sets. Very noise  The Metzelers are very quiet and corner better. billy

I'm happy your Metzelers worked out for you. Mine have been quite a disappointment.
-They are much more sensitive to the rain and the painted lines on pavement.
-Both tires make significantly more noise  A friend and I switched between my two SERKs (02/08) during a recent trip to the Great Smoky Mountains / Dragon. He remarked on the tire noise as well as small bumps on the pavement being transmitted thru the bars more so than the 02 SERK
-Mine do not corner/hold the line as well

What pressure are you running yours at? Maybe I'm too high @ max cold pressure (42 front / 50 rear)

My tires are very quite compared to the Dunlops. are the other bikes radials? Tire pressure is 42 rear 38 front. Bike handles great in puring rain last week. corners better than ever. I also have progressive rear shocks with Traxion front end. The tech said it is the one of the best handling bikes he has ridden. I agree . Now to see how long the tires last. Billy
