2010 CVO Ultra Classic Exhaust Upgrade
« on: April 29, 2010, 05:57:28 PM »

Can anyone give me some advice on upgrading exhaust on a 2010 Ultra Classic CVO 110?  The main choices are the Vance and Hines pipes and the Rineharts.  Does anyone have any data on which would be the best fit for power/performance/ and best of all sound?
Thanks
Bob F.

Just put power duals and monster ovals on 2010 and the deep rumble is the best I've heard.   8)

Stick with the crossover system for best all-around performance, and forget the so-called "true duals".  The best approach might well be one of the "de-catted" headpipes and the recored stock mufflers.  If you don't like that idea, a 2 into 1 like the D&D Fatcat is an excellent performer and a high quality part as well.

There are hundreds of choices, and I'm sure there are proponents for each of them.  If you're looking for appearance first, that may not lead you to the best performance.  And the best performance may not meet your appearance criteria.  And asking about sound is an exercise in futility.  What sounds good to me may sound like crap to you, and vice versa.  I'd suggest hanging out at some rallies or local dealerships and listening to other bikes.

Just installed the V&H  rue Duals and Monster Ovals.  Performance is great runs cooler, with tuner, and the sound is great, though a little loud compared to stock.

You will be happy with V&H Power Duals or Rinehart Extreme Duals.

OK I have a question. I'm not being a smarta$$ I really would like to know.

Does it really make any differance? If it's a given you have a high flow intake, the CAT removed (by whatever means) and a good tune does the mufler really make a perceptable differance ? At that point isn't it just about looks and sound?

I know a 2 into 1 makes slightly more torque but if properly tuned could you really feel the differance while riding? :confused5: :confused5:

V&H and RH are good choices if you have the bread to spend. consider Fullsac baffles in your stock cans. Sound good and great performance with later upgrades to headers, ECM and air.

Question for GRC. I guess any question asked creates more questions. Why do you say stay away from  "true duals"?
