I'd hoped that HD was using a 4-channel amp in the SESG2 since there aren't many 4-channel in-fairing amps in the marketplace. At the dealer today, I checked the wiring diagram for the SESG2 and it's a two channel amp, at least in the sense that it takes only the front l/r signals from the HK head unit and sends these amplified signals to the fairing speakers, fairing lower speakers (6.5" at that), and, if added, rear speakers (as well as the tweeters). The amp doesn't use the rear l/r speaker outputs available at the head unit that are used on the CVO Ultra amps.
EDIT 1: The amp outputs consist of four wires: (1) one pair (pin outs 1 and 2, Gy/R and LGn/Bk respectively) for all left channel signals; and (2) one pair pin outs (pin outs 4 and 5, W/O and LGn/W respectively) for all right channel signals. There is a total of 13 wires in the AMP harness: 4 inputs, 4 outputs, 2 Battery/Power--Red, 2 Ground--Bk/G, and 1 "Accessory Enable"--O/Be.
Also, the SESG2 audio control doesn't provide a fader or balance control. This was significant to me because I've had the Hogtunes fairing lower speaker kit on my bike with the fader control (the fairing lower speakers were wired as the rear speakers) and received the amplified signal from the HT amp, but I couldn't hear the fairing lower speakers while riding--sounded great parked, but I don't stay parked listening to music very much. So, even though I could install the SESG2 amp and add fairing lower speakers, given my prior experience with HT's product, and having fader control, I would not expect the SESG2 amp to work well for my application.
Understand, this is no criticism of the sound system on the SESG2. I'd hoped the amp was four-channel (using the rear l/r speaker outputs of the HK head unit in addition to the front l/r) and I could add 6.5" fairing lower speakers (the speaker boxes used on the SESG2 are available for about $25 ea. primed), but such is not the case.
For those who may be interested in the amp, it's p/n 77041-11 and list price is $318.
