Edwards AFB Open House 2009

  Edwards AFB had not offered an Open House for the last few years, prior to 2009.  Here's a link to some great photos:

  Photos of the B-17 always strike a special cord with me.  I have many photos, treasures my Dad left behind, of B-17's and many other aircraft he took while serving with the Army Air Corps' (Army Air Forces) 19th Bombardment Group during World War II.  He flew combat missions in the Pacific as a Nose Gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress. 
  Note: The United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) became the United States Air Force during 1947.

They had my all time favorite: the "Habu", SR-71 Blackbird. Loved watching that jet while I was in Okinawa WAY back in 1978.

Man, those are some spectacular photos and sounds! Thanks for sharing. Reminds me of when we lived in San Diego. My wife worked for AT&T and supported all of the military bases. Used to go to air shows at March, Miramar, and El Toro. the highlight of our 5 years out there was a trip on the USS Nimitz from San Diego to Long Beach. Got to see flight ops and cruise the open sea for a while on a family cruise. Amazing machinery. Many thanks on this Memorial Day to the thousands of men and women who serve our great country around the world! Your sacrifices allow us to live in a free country! Many thanks!
