It's all about Saddlemen Explorer

Dennis Kirk has an excellent return policy so I'm going to give it a go.

Decided not to go with the Road Sofa. It sure looks comfortable but if I can get the same comfort, or better, out of the Explorer I'll be happier with the looks. After talking with a few Saddlemen owners, I suspect that the passenger may find the Explorer more comfortable and the rider position may be lower for a more down in the bike type feel.

We'll see.

Stay "tuned".

I've had 2 Saddlemen Explorers logged over 50,000 miles on them very satisfied more importantly the Bride was happy back there she loved the gel over all the other seats we've had.

The good;

The Explorer is a very comfortable seat. I prefered it over the Mustang. Looks good and feels just great to me.

The bad;

Contrary to the way it looks in the pictures or even what Saddlemen will tell you, the seat sits higher than stock on the 2010 Ultra. Yep, that's right. As soon as I sat on it I felt like I was as much as perhaps 2" higher than stock. There is no way I want to sit higher. My goal is to sit the same or lower but not higher. And I'm not talking fractionally higher but rather instantly noticeably higher. The windshield was noticeably lower and my mirrors required readjustment.

So back she goes.

Another very good experience from this was Dennis Kirk. The return was exactly as they say. No hassle. Called em up, they walked me through the process and that was that. Nice folks and I will definitely buy from Dennis Kirk again.

I'm curious about the low profile Road Sofa. However, I suspect it might be the same as stock hight but I doubt it's lower as the name might indicate. Lower by their other seat designs but perhaps not by the stock HD seat design.

I'm going to put my seat quest on hold for now and return to handlebars. I've got some 2+ Sweepers coming and plan on installing myself. More to come on that. In the meantime, I'll stay with the stock seat.

A friend had similar concerns on his Explorer and Road King and he called Saddlemen they took his height, weight and inseam measurement. He sent them the seat and they customized it for him. He only paid one way shipping. They are more than agreeable to work with. If you like the seat I'd call them to get there input.

On mine I sat lower and a little further back and that was just what I wanted,

That's good to know. The seat is in fact very comfortable. With some custom work I can see where the explorer could be a very nice saddle indeed.
