Installing Rinehart True Duals on my 99 Road King
« on: August 10, 2010, 03:51:05 AM »

Greetings everyone.
Just joined the forum.
Recently installed a set of Rinehart True Duals on my 99 Road King.
It was an open box set and no hardware.
I can see by the install that the OEM rear header support bracket (above and bolted to starter) will not clear this rear pipe...hits the pipe. I left it off for now.
Is there a rplmt bracket that Rinehart uses for this support?  If so, where can I get one?
Has anyone simply left this bracket off?..any issues leaving it off?
Grateful for your assist.
Jim

You should use it.  Be aware that the Rinehart pipes for quite awhile had a habit of breaking around where that bracket attaches to the pipe.  So if your open box set is an older stock it'll be something to watch.

This is true, 2Lane.  The fix for mine was 2 additional "rubber" washers, and just "snugging" the nut to the bolt.  Keep an eye on it, but it's a sure fix for breakage.  It was designed to serve as a support, not a clamp.  :2vrolijk_21: Later--HUBBARD

Thanks guys. My pipes are dated 2007, so in hopes they are not problematic early ones. I ordered the correct bracket from Rinehart today..10 bucks.
Thx,
Jim

That may be the best 10 bucks you ever spent! Sounds like cheap insurance.

Bub used to warrantee those with a new rear exhaust pipe,,   Not the heat shield tho..  They would use a clamp hold them on.
