Has anyone tried these?  Any feedback?

This is one of my J&M 7.25" speaker grills.  They have two tweeter sizes in each speaker grill.

I'm sure there are several other great speaker brands etc, but when I installed these even without their amp, I can clearly listen to the ball game while riding at 70 mph and hear every word clearly.  With the old HD speakers I could hear noise but not make out many of the words.

Tweeters do make a difference because they produce sounds that are in the voice frequency range.  The 7.25" woofer in behind doesn't hurt the added bass any either.

I have the Hawg Wired tweeters. The best $112.00 I have invested in the bike. When I got them the schematic was not clear. I called Hawg Wired and the tech told me (I also have the Hawg Wired 150W Amp and speakers) to power the tweeters from the stock speaker wires prior to where they attach to the amp. It was plug and play that way, his reasoning was the additional power from the amp may make the tweeters louder than I would wish. I took his suggestion and just plugged them in letting the radio amp drive them vs the Hawg Wired AMP.
In the garage I was kind of disappointed, just didn't seem to help $112 worth. But on the road at 70 MPH there is no comparison. Sound is much cleaner, very clear, wife (who could care less) even said sound was better than it had ever been.
Bought mine thru local HD dealer during 20% off sale, Jenni can get them as well, Custom Chrome # 689607, retail $139.95. Page # TA.34
NO FILM WAS KILLED or HARMED DURING THIS INSTALL.

Just ordered a pair of tweeters, I have the Double Shot system already, can't wait to hear them.

Dan, did you install the JM speakers yourself?  If so, how difficult and how long?

Thats what I installed on my SERG along with the Amp.  It's nice to hear the tunes at any speed clearly.

I am thinking it took me about four hours total to do the speakers and the amp, that included removing the fuel tank to run the power wires for the amp.

I think just the speakers would be less than 2.5 hours.  It's not hard at all, the hardest part is putting the outer fairing shell back on, it's always a pain.

Like Dave said, it's not that difficult.

When installing the new J&M 7.25" speakers, you have to reuse the original speaker to fairing mount.  Just peel off the original outer grill, it comes off very easily with just a thin screw driver working loose the glue around the edge of the grill.

I'd say that speaker install was about an hour for me, but I'm getting pretty good at removing the outer shell of my fairing.

The only issues with doing one thing then another at a later time is the constant removal of the outer fairing.  I'm not sure just how many times this thing can be removed and reinstalled without damage to the screw sockets etc.  Also the inner fairing edge stripping is getting looser and looser every time I do this.  Just last week I pulled it off to do the iPod Interface install.  At the "same" time I wanted to do a hidden antenna and had to get crackin to find one.  I should have just ordered long ago a Tune Trapper, but I put that off and finally I bought a powered Hogtenna by Biketronics.  This thing worked great for me with only a FM station drop from 22 to 18.  But after doing all of that I found out that I also need another connector kit as my HK radio didn't have CB or XM.  It was NOT clear in the information that it was needed.  The instructions were a bit more detailed, but you only get them "after" you purchase the iPod Interface kit.

So as far as the speaker upgrade goes, it's really easy and the $219 to my door price from Dr. V-Twin was great.  Other than my Fullsac and TTS mods and looking at non mechanical upgrades, this is the best and one of the most inexpensive I've done.

I've not heard from anyone with the Boom Speaker upgrades, but I would imagine that they are an improvement over stock and about $60 less money.  But I just have a problem replacing a poor HD part with another HD part.  J&M has a great reputation.  I enjoy my speakers to no end every time I ride, they're great and I love to hear great music clearly...

Good luck with your upgrade.

I went with Hertz component system. Tweeters are flush mounted in the dash next to the guauges. 6 1/2 MIDS IN STOCK LOCATION AND 2 MORE 6 1/2'S inside inner fairing down by fork tubes. I also have a 6" subwoofer in right saddle bag with an Arc Audio 500 watt mono amp . The front has 150 watt Hawg Wired direct connect amp. This baby sounds as good as any car. :2vrolijk_21:
