Just finished the install.  Special thanks to Greg for his postings as well as the cell phone consult.  I am very pleased with the speakers and amp.

Here are a couple of notes regarding my installation also to a 2009 SERG
1. Before starting the project, make sure your gas tank is fairly empty. 1 or 2 gallons will make lifting the tank easier.
2. When you install the upper and lower brackets that support the amp to the bike, careful that the screws are facing you and the nuts away.  Easy to get turned around if you are assembling on a bench and there is no way to tighten in close quarters with the screw on the underside.
3.alarm will not sound if you turn ignition on and then pull the maxifuse
4.  In order to get max sound out of the new amp turn your automatic volume control off (AVC) on the section of the controls that allow treble bass adjustment

Found out the hard way , (alarm)...........Thanks for the heads up on the AVC. And for anyone that has the Ultra wiring harness (for tourpack sound) installed in thier SERG, that's alot of chit in one bag. I must have used a dozen wire ties to pull everything up and out of the way to get the fairing back on and lights back in. Can't wait to install the HID'S. I'll be in for a real treat.....................................Fuzz

I did the whole install last month on my SERG.  The 7.25 speakers, the Amp and the hidden antenna all by J&M.  I am pretty happy with it. Not to difficult to do.

Any issues with the heat generated from the amp mounted in the fairing?

How would you know if there was  a heat issue.  It's all buttoned up under the fairing.  Still works great after 2k miles

Does disabling the AVC make that much of a difference? I didn't notice any, and I like the AVC feature.

Disabling the AVC was a suggestion  from J&M customer service.  I agree that in practice i could not tell the difference.  given how useful AVC is, I use it all the time. Perhaps at the highest volume, something i don't have to do anymore, it makes a difference.

I'll bet it's because when the bike isn't moving, the AVC would limit how high the volume goes, so when J&M or whoever wants to demo it, they turn it off for maximum volume at a stand still.
