To Buy or Not to Buy?
« on: June 05, 2010, 08:04:48 PM »

I am thinking of bitting the bullet and buy a 2008 FXDSE2 Screamin’ Eagle Dyna (Duracell color).  I am a little hesitant because of what I have been reading about the 110.  It has 600 miles and the recall was performed.  No warrantee.  Any opinions?  Also what is a good price for these bikes?  Thanks.

i bought my 2007 fxdse with 1100 on in and when i picked it up i went straight to the dealer for an extended warranty.  i have about 8 months of warraty left and i am about to schedule oil work number 3.  once on the recall and the 2nd was a leak on the rear jub, i won't mention the woops from the dealer and the gushing oil prob.  i currently have a leak on the rear jug about 700 miles later.  i really question the recall sometimes beacause i think it opened a can of worms.  see if you can get an extended warranty for piece of mind.  5600 miles so far.

enjoy

Yeah, somebody else's.  Question to me would be, knowing all the problems the 110 has, would you want something you know will cost you to make right?  I rode mine without ear plugs the other day and was almost embarassed to be heard on it.   Makes me sad I sold my Evo Fatboy.  In Dec of 2006 we didn't know what they were like.  Now we do so caveat emptor.

Have you ridden the bike and listened to it closely, I know of several low mileage CVO's that were traded in because they clattered so loudly the owners couldn't stand to ride them, I had the recall done on my 07 SEUC and it sounded worse after the work was done, I got lucky on the 09 SERG I replaced it with the engine was very quiet.

I just bought an orange SERG with only 2004 miles on it. I listened to the engine and checked over the bike pretty thoroughly and struck a deal in about a half an hour. Now the remaining factory warranty was a plus for me. I had been watching for an orange SERG to come up for sale near me and although I wasn't really ready (old bike hasn't sold yet), I didn't want to lose this one. I am not at all concerned with the engine. So, if it is what you want, get off the wallet and get it.

Put 12k on my 2008 CVO Road King - Same engine as the one you're considering.  (2) recalls, but no problems at all with my engine.  that said, I was nervous reading about others who did experieince problems.  Guess I was lucky, and the guy that bought my bike!  Good luck

I have an 08 CVO SE Dyna and it is probably the only Harley that I will keep forever. It is an AWESOME one of a kind bike. It's HOT, its RUDE and it is quintessential Harley. Add a TTS Mastertune, a competent Dyno guy, drill the pipes and you will ROCK. Buy, buy buy ....!!!!
