Exhaust advise please.... what to do
« on: July 02, 2010, 02:45:40 PM »

Thanks in advance!!

I just picked up a non-SE '09 RG, I come here for advise, because the people seem like good people:

103 High comp kit
SE 251 Cams
Stock head pipe Fullsac mod (cat remove)
Stock tips, Fullsac mod, larger baffles
SE air cleaner
TTS tuner
Dyno'd 107hp 113Tq

My last bike had a thunderheader 2-1, high compression motor, and was LOUD!!!! I don't want that loud, somewhere in-between. I would lean towards the louder side, but not like a thunderheader with a high comp motor.

seems people here like the V&H power duals. Is that better than say the '08 setup that were more like true duals? Anybody drag the power duals around corners? Ir should I just change the slip ons with the modified head pipe??

Can I get away without a retune, are the exhaust's going to be that much difference, seeing as how mine is modified already?

Any advise..... Please

Rush has good stuff, depending on the sound you want you can choose several baffel sizes.. A retune probly. Do you have the TTS Interface ?? And cables to get connected ?? maybe a V-Tune after the change. If you get a new slip on with a close back pressure as what you have maybe nothing needed.. How can it be done on the back pressure test ?? Besides a flow meter...

You've already got a good exhaust system.

If you're just wanting more noise, go back to the Thunderheader.  Everything else will sound like a volkswagon if you were running a Thunderheader on a high compression motor, anyway.

I ran Thunderheader since they first came out......and that's what I blame for my hard of hearing now. :nervous:

Now I run the Fulllsack baffles, got rid of the cat and call it a day. :2vrolijk_21:  And damn if I can't hear my stereo on the freeway now.  It's all good. :)

you know when I first rode the bike, I was like, man this thing has a lot of wind noise..... then I realized I never could hear the wind over the exhaust before.

Don't think I want to go all the way to another thunderheader, maybe different slipons.

Do you know what Baffle size you have in it now?

If it is the small ones you might be happy with the larger size. It would be a hell of a lot less money than a new set of slippers! I have the small 1.75 baffles in mine... it isn't really like a VW though. Too bad Steve doesn't have a set of used baffles for people to try out. If the larger baffles sounded right to you Steve probably has a map for it also.

Has the bike had the cams changed out yet? A set of Andrews cams will give it a more lopey Harley sound... at least as much as can be expected on an injected motor.

Got a great deal on a set of Rinehart slip on's so figured I would give them a try. Now I am running Fullsac modified head pipe with Rinehart slip on's, better sound, but not quite there.

Will I get "more" sound and or better performance with the V/H Power Duals compared to the Fullsac?

Thanks!!

Talked to Steve at Fullsac, great guy with good advice. Will try modifying my Rinehart baffles, and go from there.
